language challenge exam Information
What is the Language Challenge Exam?
The Language Challenge Exam allows students who know how to read, write, speak and understand a second language (from an approved list) fluently to participate in a one day exam to receive four credits for a grade 11 or 12 language course if they pass the exam. Challenge provides students with an opportunity to demonstrate that they have satisfied the learning outcomes of a course in the graduation program and to enable them to earn credits without taking the course. Students do not need to be in the grade level of the exam to write it (ex. If a student is fluent in Punjabi, they can write the Punjabi 11 exam in grade 10 and receive credits for it).
Do universities accept the course equally to a language course taken at Sullivan Heights?
All universities in Canada accept Language Challenge exam marks. UBC accepts Challenge credits for pre-requisite requirements for courses and second-language requirements but does not accept Challenge marks as part of the GPA calculation for admission. It is highly recommended that you check with your intended university for their admissions requirements.
